Jake Owen's New Single Takes Him Back to the Lawn Seats

Songs are so good at taking you back to another place and time, even if you're the one singing them. That's what Jake Owen seems to think about his new single -- the title track of his upcoming album, Days of Gold.

In a recent radio interview, Owen talked about how the song (which was written by two members of the Cadillac Three) makes him think about the good times he had even before he made it big.

"The 'Days of Gold' are the days that you remember -- the golden days, the times whether it's with your friends or your family or the concerts," the Florida native said. "I look back on my life and think about the time I saw Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw a few weeks after Alabama came through and played and all the fun times I had. Not in the seats that were high dollar, but in the $20 grass seats."

I'm assuming those grass seats would've been for shows in the late '90s when Chesney and McGraw pavilion reserved seats would have been out of Owen's teenage price range. I know, because I went to those same shows and paid shameful amounts to sit up close. But now, more than 10 years later, it's so cool that Owen has a song that reminds him of how far he's come.

He'll be performing at festivals this weekend with stops scheduled for Friday (Aug. 30) in Plymouth, Ind., and Saturday in Owensboro, Ky.
