Supposedly, Carrie Underwood put on a few pounds after she won American Idol in 2005 and then went out on tour with the top contestants. I never saw her look the least bit heavy, but she claims it really did happen.
"It was on the Idol tour," she told Redbook magazine. "I put on a lot of weight [during the show] because we were locked in a room all day with a craft service table. I was bored, so I was just eating. I was never overweight, but I feel better with myself now."
To make sure that doesn't happen again, Underwood keeps a food diary. Because for her, it sounds like she sometimes eats just to eat. (Most of us have been there, done that.)
"You know how you feel when you get full?" she said. "Well, I don't get full. I can eat a lot. Mike and I were in Italy for 10 days, and I put on eight pounds. So in real life, I have to make sure I'm not eating just to eat."
She talked to the magazine about the downside of celebrity -- with her famous husband Mike Fisher -- in a tabloid world.
"If he goes to a bar with his friends, a tabloid is going to report about it," she said. "Same goes for me. Trust is what it is. Either you trust someone, or you don't. And I've never trusted anyone more than I trust Mike."
She also explained why she does her own laundry even when she's on tour.
"I do not like people touching my underwear," she said. "That's just weird! I travel with a washer and dryer, and I like cooking on the bus, too."
Underwood is on the cover of Redbook's December issue which promises a story about her views on tattoos, gay marriage, going vegan and "the risk she's about to take." It's on newsstands Tuesday (Nov. 12).
