Love and Theft's Stephen Barker Liles and fiancée Jenna Kennedy welcomed the arrival of their first child Monday (Dec. 2) at 8:40 a.m. in Nashville. Jett Barker Liles weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces.
In a Twitter message from Love and Theft, Liles and bandmate Eric Gunderson began the day by posting, "We got a case of the Mondays, Theftheads! What's your go-to LnT song that turns your Monday frown upside-down?"
Then just an hour later, there was this tweet: "Jett Barker Liles is here! Congratulations to Stephen and Jenna!!!" The message was accompanied by an adorable picture of Liles holding his brand new son. So, was the case of the Mondays just a hoax? Or did Baby Jett's birth actually turn everyone's Monday frowns upside down?
Jett's instant best friend will likely be Camden William Gunderson, the 9-month-old son of Gunderson and his wife Emily.
Liles and Kennedy, who plan to be married early next year, told People Country the pregnancy news was a surprise when she was at the doctor for some routine tests.
"All I could do was laugh," she told People magazine.
"We're having a child," Liles added. "We're in love. We're getting married. What could be wrong with that? It's God's timing, not ours."
The band is off until a New Year's Eve gig in Washington, D.C., so hopefully Liles will be able to get in plenty of quality father-son time before he heads back out on the road.
