I've been reading (and loving) this book called Once-a-Day Country Faith: 56 Reflections From Today's Leading Country Music Stars. The author, country music journalist Deborah Evans Price, asked every country star she could one small-but-important question: "What passage from the Bible is the most meaningful to you -- and why?"
Of the more than four dozen answers, Miranda Lambert offered my favorite one so far. It struck a chord with me because I'm about to celebrate a big wedding anniversary with my husband.
The scripture, Proverbs 12:4, states, "A wife of noble character is her husband's crown."
Lambert goes on to explain why this particular passage is her favorite.
"Proverbs 12:4 really means something to me. I love it," she says in the book. "I thought about getting a tattoo of it because I want to always know that it's there. More than a diamond or anything else, it's really tattooed on my heart."
And because her own marriage to Blake Shelton is constantly under the microscope of media scrutiny, she admits that they've had their share of ups and downs. But the Bible is a good reminder that marriage is the most sacred thing of all.
"I just realized how important the sanctity of marriage is, how much we needed each other and how good it feels to know somebody has your back," Lambert says.
That verse may make Lambert think of the Book of Proverbs, but it makes me think of her "Love Song" off her 2009 Revolution album. That's what's tattooed on my heart.
