Shakira knows. She knows that if she is going to win the sixth season of The Voice, she'll need a secret weapon. And by weapon, I mean one full of gunpowder, lead, sass and swagger. So, you know, Miranda Lambert.
She is Team Shakira's newest recruit, even though she's married to Shakira's nemesis, Blake Shelton. Lambert will be on the sidelines to advise the pop star when the show kicks off its new season on Feb. 24.
"I think he's kinda nervous about this whole situation," Lambert told Access Hollywood, in an interview about switching sides. "That's good. You gotta keep them on their toes."
This season on The Voice, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green are giving up their big red chairs to make room for Shakira and Usher, who will join Shelton and Adam Levine.
Shakira admitted that she really, really wants to win. "So much that I had to bring Blake Shelton's wife to give me a hand here," she laughed.
During the battle-round rehearsals, Lambert revealed one of her strategies to help her boss make a champion. "I have to go home and investigate, and then I'll call her and be like, 'I found this out, you need to do this,'" said Lambert, obviously the daughter of two investigators.
"I love you, honey," Lambert told her off-camera husband, "but give the girls a chance for once."
It's a good thing Shakira is relying on girl power now because it sounds like being in a male-dominated industry is getting kind of old for her. "Dealing with boys at work and being the only girl can be challenging. I have my insecurities, but I've learned I have to be a good sport. I have to be able to take certain jokes and not take them personally. There are jokes made almost every second of the day. I had to develop a tough hide," she told Glamour magazine.
