Billy Bob Thornton has postponed a tour originally slated to begin Oct. 9 in Washington, D.C. Private Radio, his debut album, comes out Sept. 25 on the Lost Highway label. Instead of playing music this fall, the movie actor will promote four films including the Coen Brothers' The Man Who Wasn't There and Barry Levinson's Bandits. When he does tour, in the first half of 2002, Thornton will play more dates than the 11 he had planned in October. His moody album includes a cover of the Leon Payne/Hank Williams classic "Lost Highway," a spoken-word, Southern Gothic narrative ("Beauty at the Back Door"), a kinky tale of longing ("Forever") and the steamy "The Starlight Lounge," co-written with Dwight Yoakam and Holly Lamar. Thornton sings "Ring of Fire" on Earl Scruggs' new album, Earl Scruggs and Friends.
