Chicks Will Join Concerts for Artists' Rights
The Dixie Chicks join artists staging five benefit concerts in Los Angeles Feb. 26, the night before the Grammy Awards, to raise money for the Recording Artists Coalition, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Chicks have been active in an ongoing effort to win broader rights for artists, and they have filed suit against their record label, Sony Music. In September, the Chicks testified before a committee of the California legislature considering repeal of legislation artists regard as exploitive. Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks and several other artists have committed to perform in the Feb. 26 shows featuring pop, alternative, R&B, hard rock and country music.
