Country fans with an open mind and an eager ear have a brand new way to discover fresh music with the debut of CMT.com's
New Voices No Cover.
New Voices No Cover gives artists an opportunity to get their music heard by an enthusiastic
audience of country fans throughout the world. In order to be chosen, musicians must have their own CD, perform in clubs regularly
and write (or co-write) their songs. Most importantly, their music must appeal to a country audience.
Initially, a
new artist will be spotlighted on New Voices No Cover every two weeks. After that, performances will be archived, but
will remain easily accessible on CMT.com. Musical styles range from traditional country, contemporary
country and alt.country, as well as bluegrass and folk. Aaron Watson, a club favorite in Texas, kicks off the series. Future
performers include Eastmountainsouth, Chris Knight, Robinella & the CC String Band, Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez, and
Paul Thorn.
The musicians will tape their segments at the CMT offices, and CMT.com readers
can then watch the acoustic performances on streaming video.
