It was announced earlier -- even on the unofficial but in-the-know Planet Garth Web site -- that the superstar would do a Face to Face With Garth Brooks benefit show for his charity, Teammates for Kids, on Friday (July 15). Tickets, which were said to be available directly from the Mirage, were set at $500 each.
Then the rumor came that Brooks had canceled the show because of a scheduling conflict and that ticket buyers would have their money refunded.
"Garth didn't cancel anything," Brooks' spokesperson told CMT.com Wednesday (July 13). "There was simply a misunderstanding. There was never going to be a public concert Friday night. Garth is simply doing what he's done for the last several years. He will say thank you musically to the players and supporters of Teammates for Kids [on] Saturday night."
The spokesperson conceded that "say[ing] thank you musically" is another way of saying that Brooks will sing at the meeting. But Brooks singing, she contends, is not the same as Brooks giving a concert.
The Mirage confirms the Saturday event is still scheduled. No one answered at the Face to Face ticket phone line.
