Toby Keith Wins BMI Song, Songwriter Honors
He Shares Songwriter of the Year Award With Vicky McGehee and Ed Hill

Toby Keith won song of the year honors for "As Good As I Once Was" and shared songwriter of the year honors with Ed Hill and Vicky McGehee during the 54th annual BMI Country Awards Saturday night (Nov. 4) during a gala banquet at the performing rights organization's offices on Nashville's Music Row.

Toby Keith and longtime colloaborator Scotty Emerick shared the prize for "As Good As I Once Was" which received the honor officially designated as the Robert J. Burton Award for most performed country song of the year. Keith picked up his third BMI songwriter of the year crown from the success of that particular song and two other hits from the past year -- "Big Blue Note," "HonkyTonk U" and "As Good As I Once Was."

Vicky McGehee and Ed Hill tied with Keith for songwriter of the year for each composing three of the year's Top 50 most-performed songs. McGehee's hits include Gretchen Wilson's "All Jacked Up," Jason Aldean's "Hicktown" and Faith Hill's "Like We Never Loved at All." Hill's track record this year includes Trisha Yearwood's "Georgia Rain," Jamie O' Neal's "Somebody's Hero" and and Trace Adkins' "Songs About Me."
