The newest offering in the Johnny Cash legacy is Chapter & Verse, a repackaging of the singer's 1990 reading of the entire New Testament onto a single DVD and an accompanying CD that collects Cash's recordings of 14 gospel songs from the various albums he made for Columbia Records.

In addition to the reading, which runs more than 19 hours, there is also a slide show, Walking the Bible, made up of scenic photos of the Holy Land taken by Todd Bolen.

John Carter Cash, who's been instrumental in discovering and repackaging his father's music, provides the spoken introduction to Chapter & Verse, which is published by Bibles on DVD, a company specializing in DVD versions of the Bible.

"My father was first saved when he was young," Cash says. "Back in the 1970s, he re-found his faith. After that, when he went in to record the full New Testament, it was just a joy for him to do it. I know he enjoyed spreading the Word. I know he enjoyed reading it out loud. It helped his own spirit."

Chapter & Verse is being sold online and in retail record stores, department stores and Christian bookstores, Cash reports.

Coming in January, he adds, is Johnny Cash Remixed, featuring newly-remixed versions of songs his father originally recorded for Sun Records. John Carter Cash co-executive produced the album with Snoop Dogg and Mathew Knowles for Compadre Records.

A prolific artist in his own right, Cash says he's just finished producing an album for Wylie & the Wild West and has been working in the studio with Loretta Lynn.

Cash has also written a book for children aged 9 to 12 called Mama Loves Her Little Son. It's in the form of a poem and is illustrated by Marc Burckhardt. The book is being published by Simon & Schuster and is scheduled for a March release.
