In a CMT Insider report, Bryan talked about the video and how he came to write the song with Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum. The Lady A connection doesn't end there. He also got band member Hillary Scott to sing on the recording session.
"The song is about a couple that doesn't know if their worlds are jiving with each other, or they don't know how their relationship's going," he said. "The majority of the video will be me in an elevator singing. There's a set of actors, and they are doing their performance. You think it's about them really, the whole song. And then I come in, and it's actually my spouse that was almost in a situation where she may have cheated. You can tell immediately the song was about our struggle ... my wife and I. So, it's a cool little twist at the end that I don't think people will be ready for. We just kind of felt like doing it in this kind of setting would be fun.
"Charles and Dave of Lady Antebellum, we've been threatening to write [songs together]. We were all off the road, and I called them up and said, 'Hey, let's get together at my house.' I ran the [song] idea by them, and the next thing you know, we're working on it and knocking it out. Then a couple months later, we were in Augusta, Ga., at a guitar pull. Charles and Dave were like, 'Dude, we've got to play it,' and I couldn't even hardly remember it. So we rehearsed it in the locker room of this big venue we were at, and we went and performed it.
"Obviously, some people recorded it, and the next thing you know, I'm getting hits on MySpace and on my Web site, and people are commenting and going crazy about it. At the time, I hadn't recorded it. I'd recorded some sides, and then we decided to go back in and recorded it. The next thing you know, it's the first single off the new album. And we got Hillary to sing the background vocals, so that was good."
