
The Hope for Haiti Now benefit was held last Friday (Jan. 22) in Los Angeles. With donations continuing to come in from around the world, organizers of the Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief telethon announced Saturday (Jan. 23) that the event had already raised more than $57 million, a new record for donations made by the general public through a disaster relief telethon. The event, organized by MTV Networks, featured a wide array of musical artists and show business figures. It aired on dozens of TV and cable outlets and streamed live on many Web sites.
