Co-headliners Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser have joined forces with CMT One Country to support the USO (United Service Organizations)
during CMT on Tour 09: Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser that kicked off recently in New York. At each stop on the tour, concert
attendees will be encouraged to fill out a postcard thanking the troops for their service and making their own pledge of service
at home. This pledge is also available for CMT fans online at CMTONECOUNTRY.com. The postcards will be delivered to the troops
through the USO.
After the tour concludes, an online auction of memorabilia from Johnson and Houser will go up on
CMTauctions.com with all proceeds benefiting the USO. The USO is a CMT One Country partner.
"The mission of CMT One
Country is to inspire our viewers to make a difference in their communities and CMT on Tour 09: Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser
is a great way to reach out to them regionally," said Lucia Folk, director of public affairs, CMT. "We want to highlight the
service of our men and women in the military as inspiration for viewers to serve their communities as well by volunteering
at home. With our partner the USO, we will deliver these pledges to the troops."
"Those guys in the field need some
emotional connection to home, and I think this project will bring a little bit of home to them," said Johnson. "Regardless
what your political beliefs are about the war, you have to respect the fact that another human being in your country is willing
to give their life for your freedom."
"Any way that we, as entertainers, can provide comic relief, music relief, or
any kind of support to our troops is worth making because of the effort they make for us every day," said Houser.
CMT
on Tour 09: Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser kicked off recently in New York and will hit 30 markets across the country this
fall. This is the eighth annual tour presented by CMT. Previous tours have featured such superstars as Trace Adkins, Jason
Aldean, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland and Keith Urban. Choice Hotels and CiCi's Pizza and Wrangler return as sponsors
this year.
