Randy Travis was taking a nap on a Texas road after crashing his car while allegedly intoxicated late Tuesday night (Aug. 7), according to a report by ABC News. The singer was discovered near his home in Tioga, Texas, after a 911 caller reported seeing "a guy laying on the road."
A police spokesman said Travis was brought to the station naked, but it was unclear if he undressed on the way or if he was discovered without his clothes.
Along with an arrest for alleged drunk driving, an additional charge of retaliation and obstruction was issued after he threatened to shoot and kill two of the police officers.
As previously reported, Travis crashed his 1998 Pontiac Trans Am into barricades in a construction zone, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety said. A blood sample was taken after Travis refused a sobriety test. A statement from the sheriff's office said Travis "had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication."
Travis was alone at the scene of the accident. While he was being transported to jail, Travis "made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case," according to the statement.
After posting a $21,500 bond, Travis was released from the Sherman County Jail on Wednesday morning. Blood results are pending, according to The Associated Press. He was issued paper clothing at the jail.
In February, Travis was charged with public intoxication after being found in a parked car by a church in Sanger, Texas, about 20 miles from Tioga.
