The 2013 CMT Music Awards went down Wednesday night (June 5) in Nashville, but for the majority of country fans, we had to watch from our couches. Lucky for us, there's the Internet, and the stars were keeping fans well informed throughout the night. So from Lenny Kravitz's preshow pic to Kristen Bell's confession about Luke Bryan, nothing about the big night was left out.
Everybody Needs a Little Practice
Before the show even started, opener Lenny Kravitz tweeted out a photo of his dress rehearsal with Jason Aldean. And we don't know what you think, but the guys look stage-ready. The duo played "American Woman" at the start of the night, and based on the black and white glimpse at practice time, they were rocking out well before CMT's cameras were rolling. True rock stars!
Gettin' Crazy With the Fans
The CMT Music Awards seem pretty cool, right? Well, that's what it seems like from our living rooms. So for those of you watching on the small screen, we dug for even more behind-the-scenes shots of what was going on in Nashville. Luckily, Dustin Lynch was snapping pics all night. Here's what it's like being with other fans in the giant Bridgestone Arena:
Elvis, Is That You?
There were a ton of great performances in the night from Taylor Swift to Miranda Lambert to Hunter Hayes. But who's the one that got down the hardest? According to Bell, it was Luke Bryan.
Don't get it wrong. There are some great up-and-coming country stars (looking at you, Ashley Monroe), but there's nothing like the vets. So when the show was about to close out, fans got a surprise from Kenny Rogers and Sheryl Crow, who gave Bridgestone Arena a quick treat with a duet of "Islands in the Stream," originally done by Rogers and Dolly Parton.
And the Winner Is ...
There were some big winners accepting CMT buckles through the night. Carrie Underwood won video of the year, Florida Georgia Line won duo video and Miranda Lambert won CMT performance of the year, to name a few. They all seem pretty excited about their prizes, but Lady Antebellum's group video win for "Downtown" had bandmember Dave Haywood beaming.
Besides winning the group video of the year prize, Lady Antebellum also performed with Darius Rucker, playing a cover of "Wagon Wheel." Before Rucker joined them, the trio warmed up backstage while getting makeup done.
After-Party! ... at McDonald's?
Hey, everybody knows a long night of country music gives you the munchies!
