Willie Nelson is back on the schedule for this weekend's Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Nashville. Kenny Rogers has also been added to the lineup for the two-day event.
The Zac Brown Band will host and headline at the outdoor event taking place Friday and Saturday (Sept. 27-28) at Riverfront Park.
Concert organizers announced Wednesday that Nelson had canceled or postponed a series of four tour dates concluding with the festival appearance in Nashville. However, a spokesperson for the 80-year-old Country Music Hall of Fame member confirmed to CMT.com that he and his Family Band will perform Saturday and will resume his touring schedule with an Oct. 15 date in Louisville, Ky.
Nelson will be joined during his set by Warren Haynes, a singer-guitarist who gained acclaim as a member of The Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule.
The Zac Brown Band will perform a "super set" with special guests on both nights of the festival. Kenny Chesney, Jason Mraz and Kenny Rogers will be sitting in with the band Friday. Saturday's set will feature John Fogerty and Clare Bowen (star of ABC's Nashville). The Stellas featuring Lennon & Maisy will be making guest appearances both nights.
Friday's festival will feature full sets by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, the Eli Young Band and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. In addition to Nelson, Saturday's lineup includes Kacey Musgraves, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Blackberry Smoke.
In addition to the music, the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Nashville will also feature dishes prepared by chefs Stephanie Izard, Giuseppe Tentori and Shon Foster.
Brown has also scheduled a similar event set for Oct. 19-20 at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C., featuring Nelson, Rogers, Musgraves, Bowen, Natalie Maines and Holly Williams, among others.
