With the 47th annual CMA Awards less than a week away, those coveted titles are on the minds of many, including the nominees themselves. And when two of the most esteemed nominees are husband and wife, country's biggest night becomes even more exceptional.
Miranda Lambert and husband Blake Shelton have taken their careers straight to the top in recent years, and Lambert opened up to CMT when it was all just beginning to heat up.
"It's amazing," she told CMT Hot 20 Countdown. "I don't think we even realize what all has happened to us in the last year or two years. I'm ready to sort of sit back and Google myself and be like 'What have I been doing?' All this great stuff's been happening, and I haven't been able to enjoy it because there's so much other stuff going on."
In 2013, Lambert hit the ground running, kicking off the successful Locked and Reloaded tour with Dierks Bentley. She also released two solo radio singles (the chart topping "Mama's Broken Heart" and "All Kinds of Kinds"), Pistol Annies unleashed their sophomore album and just last month, Lambert unveiled a new location for her Pink Pistol boutique, all while supporting her husband's equally remarkable career.
"[Blake] really deserves to be in the spotlight right now," said Lambert. "He's making country music look great now on national television every week, and I just feel like it's his time."
After earning the entertainer of the year title in 2012, Shelton is once again nominated in the illustrious category, one of his five nods this year. And with Lambert earning five of her own, the two could potentially be in for another monumental CMA Awards show.
