Martina McBride is back, y'all, and will be filling your speakers with some seriously soulful goodness in 2014.

Say with me, "Hallelujah and thank you, Martina."

Titled Everlasting, the album will feature classic hits. But prepare yourselves because the songs aren't necessarily limited to the country genre. She'll tackle everything from Sam Cooke's "Bring It on Home to Me" to R&B staples like "If You Don't Know Me by Now" and "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted."

If you know anything about the Sharon, Kan., vocalist, you know she's anything but a musical one-trick pony. Yes, she's the poster child for female country superstars. From the moment she burst onto the scene in 1992, her vocals have set the standard for women in the format and, trust me, my friends who don't know squat about country music ... well... even they know and love them some Martina.

But she's more than that. Even though country music is home for her, that voice reaches far beyond the parameters of the genre. McBride grew up singing in a rock band and idolizing other iconic vocalists of the '60s and '70s, which no doubt led to the creation of her incredible musical tapestry.

"I was crazy about Linda Ronstadt," McBride said. "I've never had the chance to see her live. And also Aretha Franklin."

And you can absolutely hear those influences in McBride's unparalleled delivery of songs like the iconic "Independence Day" to "Wild Angels" to "Whatever You Say" and even the softer approach of "Valentine" or "In My Daughter's Eyes." Whatever she sings, she always delivers it with power, heart and soul.

Which is why a soulful project makes complete sense for McBride, who said of the album that she purposefully put "as much soul and emotion" as she possibly could into the sessions.

What's even more exciting about the release is that it marks her first project on her own label. Look for Everlasting to be released on March 4. She's planning to tour to support the album.
