Cheers to Kellie Pickler! The singer just returned home from her seventh USO tour, where she and her songwriter husband Kyle Jacobs spent their holiday spreading love and joy to troops overseas. She tweeted an adorable photo with her hubby in the back of a C-17 transport aircraft and another picture of herself with a soldier in Afghanistan with the caption, "Not every Christmas do you get 2 fist bump a soldier while hanging your feet off the back of a Chinook in Afghanistan."
Pickler is one of country music's biggest advocates for the USO program. Of the many times I've chatted with the vivacious singer, I've always enjoyed steering the conversation to her involvement with the organization. Her eyes light up, and you can't help but feel how much she values their work and how invested she is in the welfare of our troops.
Pickler even says the USO tours are the highlight of her career, and she's clearly committed to the cause.
This year, Pickler took part in the USO's Every Moment Counts campaign, which took her to the Middle East to perform, visit and deliver Christmas gifts to those who couldn't get home to their families.
And despite the fact that her journey kept her away from her other loved ones this holiday, it's a sacrifice she was more than willing to make.
Now that's she's back on U.S. soil, Pickler is toasting the incredible experience and enjoying some time off before resuming her tour in January with a series of concerts in Virginia, New York and Ohio.
