CMT is kicking off the new year on an outrageous note with Party Down South, a new series from the producers of Jersey Shore. Premiering Thursday (Jan. 16) at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the one-hour, 10-episode series documents eight wild and spirited Southerners during one of the most unforgettable summers of their lives.
Taking Murells Inlet, S.C., by storm, this group of lively cast members admit they held nothing back as they geared up to show the world exactly what a party down South is.
"It definitely involves beer, women, good food," says Mattie, a 24-year-old former beauty queen from Gheens, La.
Josh "Murray," a 31-year-old cast member from Louise, Miss., clarifies her description.
"It doesn't involve all drinking, man," he says. "Partying down South is just hanging out with your buddies, raising hell, getting in trouble, getting thrown out of places. ... It's just the way we act around each other -- getting to know each other, having fun together and just getting in trouble."
And while intoxicated nights are to be expected, the loud and rowdy bunch admits they bonded quickly. Acknowledging that the Thursday night throwdown will be extreme, the cast members say viewers can also expect a great deal more.
"A lot of heart," Mattie explains. "We party. I mean, we're on vacation. Who goes on vacation and doesn't party anyway? But we laughed, we cried and we know each other better now than I know some people back home. They know things about me that I haven't shared with anybody. ... It's more than just beer and partying. We opened up and shared our hearts with each other, and that's what it's really about."
