Kacey Musgraves has been announced as an opening act on the North American leg of pop superstar Katy Perry's Prismatic world tour.
The Texas native will open shows for Perry throughout the Midwest and Canada in August. During that time, the tour is scheduled to visit cities such as Cleveland, St. Louis and Minneapolis.
"Ima big ol' @katyperry fan and I CANT WAIT to join her on her #PrismaticWorldTour this summer in the US!!," Musgraves wrote in a Twitter post. "More deets very soon!!"
Kicking off June 22 in Raleigh, N.C., indie-pop duo Capital Cities will open concerts through July on the East Coast, while Canadian indie duo Tegan & Sara will take over for Musgraves on the West Coast in September before the tour finishes in Houston in October.
"I'm so excited that I got to hand-select some of my favorite artists to join me on this journey," said Perry in a press release. "I know you'll love Capital Cities, Kacey Musgraves and Tegan & Sara as much as I do."
Musgraves will spend much of the year leading up to August on Lady Antebellum's Take Me Downtown tour, where she joins Kip Moore as an opening act.
Currently reigning as the CMA new artist of the year, Musgraves is nominated for four Grammys -- best new artist, best country album, best country song for her hit "Merry Go 'Round" and in the same category as a writer for Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart."
Her debut album, Same Trailer Different Park, also includes the singles "Blowin' Smoke" and "Follow Your Arrow."
