Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark and Ashley Monroe emerged as the favorites in the Nashville Scene's 14th annual country music critics poll.

Given their critical acclaim and high visibility in the media, it's probably not surprising that the three singer-songwriters commanded the respect of 98 country music writers from throughout the nation. They all ranked near the top in several categories reported in this week's issue of the Nashville Scene, a weekly publication.

Musgraves, Clark and Monroe landed at the top of several categories, including new acts, albums and artists of the year.

CMT personality Katie Cook counts down some of the past year's most memorable music when CMT Presents Nashville Scene Country Music Critics' Poll Singles of the Year airs Sunday (Jan. 26) at 9 a.m. ET/PT.
