Right before Miranda Lambert's Academy of Country Music Awards rehearsal Saturday (April 5), we had a chance to talk for a few minutes backstage about everything from new music to new boots.
First, the music.
I asked if it felt any different to come to an ACM Awards show on the verge of releasing new music. (Her upcoming album Platinum is due out on June 3.)
"I feel this kind of nervous energy but in such a good way," she said. "I feel excited because I have so much to talk about. I can't wait for people to hear this new music because I've worked really hard on it."
Four the Record, Lambert's last studio album, was released at the end of 2011, so it's been two and a-half years since she's had new music out. That's been a blessing, she said, because it freed her up for other things.
"I've had some time off to focus on some other business ventures besides just touring constantly," Lambert said.
One of those ventures is her shoe line, and when we talked, she was wearing the Cowboy cowboy boots in platinum -- her favorites -- which had been "custom bedazzled" for the trip to Vegas."
"And with that break, I've had time to live with the record and with the music," she said. "And I had time to focus on all the aspects of my career and not just tour, tour, tour."
Lambert is nominated for seven ACM Awards -- entertainer, female vocalist, single record, song, video and vocal event of the year. In the latter category, she is nominated twice for her collaborations with Keith Urban on "We Were Us" and Blake Shelton on "Boys 'Round Here."
The ACM Awards show airs Sunday (April 6) at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
