If I had a family as absolutely adorable as Justin Moore's brood, I'd want to take a little time off from the road, too, to spend more time with them.
That's apparently what the singer is planning to do for a few weeks after his Off the Beaten Path tour wraps up this weekend. He's essentially scaling back from his regular 150-170 shows a year to about a 100 or so and will return to the road in early May.
The reason for his decision is that adorable family we were gushing about earlier -- wife Kate (who's expecting their third child) and two cutie-pie daughters Ella and Kennedy. Sure, the road is a great reward for the Arkansas native, but it's not home.
"My girls are getting older, and I want to spend as much time at home as I can with them," he says.
He'll still be touring throughout the summer, although he won't be hitting the road as hard as he has in previous years.
"When the tour wraps up. we'll take a couple of weeks off, and then we're gonna do some of the big fairs and some of the big festivals," he said. "We're not gonna do as many of the county fairs and things that we've done in the past."
Although he says the places he's played in the past have "been a blast" and are "the reason why we're where we are," he also wants to make sure he doesn't hit certain markets too often.
"I think there's something to be said for not over diluting an area," he said. "And I remember a year or two ago, we were in few different places two or three times throughout the year, so we're gonna scale it back a little."
Like other artists who worked so hard for years as a newcomer before establishing their career, Moore deserves to enjoy life to its fullest. Fresh from an ACM win for best new artists and multiple hit singles and albums, he's hotter than ever, but there's certainly nothing wrong with letting things cool down a little while as he puts his family first.
