Rising Star, a new singing competition, is set to premiere June 22 on ABC, but there's still no official word whether Brad Paisley will be one of the hosts.
Contacted Monday (May 12) by CMT.com, a spokesperson for Paisley would neither confirm nor deny media reports that surfaced last week about his involvement in the U.S. version of the TV franchise which is already successful in Israel and Portugal.
"Rising Star completely reinvents the traditional singing competition as -- for the first time ever -- the audience has the final say in real time," according to a description on ABC's website. "During the performances, viewers vote via an App to determine if the singer will advance in the competition. If the voting reaches a certain threshold, the performer moves on."
The U.S. version of the show is a joint venture between Keshet International and Dick Clark Producutions.
If Paisley is confirmed for the show, he will follow the lead of Keith Urban and Blake Shelton, who served as judges on Fox's American Idol and NBC's The Voice, respectively.
According to his website, Paisley has more than a dozen concerts scheduled before the show premieres, including a June 22 appearance in Atlanta.
Paisley, who made a guest appearance on ABC's Nashville, has co-hosted the CMA Awards show on the network for the past six years. His new album, as yet still untitled, will be released Aug. 26. It includes the first single, "River Bank," a song he wrote with longtime collaborator Kelley Lovelace.
