Brad Paisley, Kesha and Ludacris have been confirmed to be on a panel of experts on Rising Star, a new singing competition premiering June 22 on ABC-TV, the network announced Friday (May 16).
The series will be hosted by singer-songwriter Josh Groban.
According to an ABC press release, Rising Star completely reinvents the traditional singing competition as -- for the first time ever -- the audience has the final say in real time. The show follows a group of aspiring singers as they perform live."
Other versions of the Rising Star franchise have been successful internationally. The U.S. series is produced by Keshet DCP, a joint venture between Keshet International and DC Media, the parent company of Dick Clark Productions.
Paisley, Groban, Kesha and Ludacris will appear together for the first time during the 2014 Billboard Music Awards airing Sunday on ABC.
By signing on for Rising Star, Paisley becomes the third country artist involved in talent competitions for major networks. Keith Urban is a judge for Fox's American Idol, and Blake Shelton serves as a judge/mentor on NBC's The Voice.
Paisley's new album, Moonshine in the Trunk, will be released Aug. 26. It features his current single, "River Bank."
Earlier this week, he announced additional dates for his Country Nation world tour with special guests Randy Houser, Charlie Worsham, Dee Jay Silver and newcomer Leah Turner appearing at most shows. The tour launches Friday in Philadelphia and is scheduled to run through Sept. 20 in Washington, D.C.
