Apparently our invitation to karaoke with Blake Shelton and actor James Van Der Beek after last week's CMT Music Awards was lost in the mail, y'all.
I know, I'm just as disappointed as you. Because who in the world would want to miss out on the chance to get down with those two at a Nashville bar?
And that's exactly what happened according to the star of Dawson's Creek and Varsity Blues fame (to name a few). Van Der Beek was enjoying a fantastic get together at a Music City bar after attending the show. He told People magazine he was "handing off a drink, a song came on that I'd never heard before and a microphone was handed to me."
Oh, boy. That's usually how great karaoke moments start. Next thing he knows, his new pal, our beloved Shelton, was giving him pointers. Van der Beek went on to say Blake was "coaching me note-by-note and I was on a table!"
I'll bet you've never seen anything quite like that on The Voice!
Of course, Van Der Beek's wife Kimberly was in attendance as well and couldn't believe what was happening. She recalls her hubby "came back and was like, 'Oh by the way, I was just drunken karaoke-ing on a table and Blake Shelton was my coach!' I said, 'What? What?'"
The party was enough to endear country music and its stars to the Hollywood actor, who revealed to the magazine, "I'm always going to party with country stars from here on out... they're the most fun."
We like to agree.
