This explains why you never see Carrie Underwood's dogs wearing all-access passes and watching her show from the side of the stage. She's afraid they would be afraid.
I mean, as much as I'm sure Underwood's dogs -- her dachshund mix Penny (who stars in her recent breakfast Instagram video) and her rat terrier Ace -- adore her, she did tell CMA Close Up she doesn't think they'd love to be anywhere near the stage when she is performing.
"I would think the bright lights and noise would scare them pretty good. So I leave them on my bus when I can. They need their quiet time, too," Underwood said of her tiny little dogs.
Although, no matter how little Ace and Penny are, they still cost extra when Underwood is spending the night on the road but off the bus.
"I know at many of the hotels we stay at, we have to inform them that we are traveling with two dogs. Usually there is some kind of fee for that. That said, they're totally worth the extra costs and efforts," she said.
You can catch Underwood's appearance on the CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock special on Tuesday (Aug. 5) on ABC. You can also look for her -- and maybe Ace and Penny -- out on the road when her she kicks off a string of six shows from Aug. 27 through Sept. 27.
