Oh, Taylor Swift, why must you tease us so?
If you follow the superstar's Instagram feed, you saw on Monday (Aug. 4) that she posted a short video from the inside of an elevator, where she kept pushing the "18" button -- six times to be exact. Along with the video came this cryptic caption:
"So, here's your first clue."
Swifties, what does this mean? Are you just as excited and confused as I am right now? Let's break down the possibilities.
We fans can only hope this message is a foreshadowing of a timeline for Swift's highly-anticipated new album. Billboard made an interesting and astute observation and correlation there, noting that all of the singer's last four albums have emerged close to the end of October -- around the 18th day -- with the exception of Fearless, which actually debuted Nov. 11, 2008. That's still pretty close to the 18th day of the month.
Or does it mean we're going to get an album chock full of 18 tracks? That's another great thought they had, which I'd considered, as well. Swift has yet to do an album that expansive, and we all know she's the poster child for breaking new ground with each release. Could a double-disc spectacular be her next move?
She's surpassed the age of 18, so I'm betting against the chance it will chronicle that year of her life. After all, we've already experienced "22" on Swift's Red album.
And though it was a great year in her life, she's 24 now and moving on to bigger and better things. You just know it. Stay tuned. This story is just getting started.
