The Boxcars, Blue Highway and the Del McCoury Band are this year's leading nominees for the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards. The ballot was revealed Wednesday night (Aug. 13) in Franklin, Tennessee.
Including nominations for individual members as well as the band itself, the Boxcars received 10 nominations, while Blue Highway captured nine and the Del McCoury Band received six.
The IBMA Awards will take place on Oct. 2 with hosts Lee Ann Womack and Jerry Douglas. The corresponding World of Bluegrass annual event will be held Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In addition to the nominations, it was revealed that the original Seldom Scene and bluegrass historian Neil Rosenberg will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Distinguished Achievement Award recipients will also include Deering Banjo Company, the Delmore Brothers, European Bluegrass Music Association, the Hillbilly at Harvard radio show and banjo player Bill Keith.
