I love a good story-based music video -- one with a plot, a little dialogue. It's like a little mini-movie, and Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett 's video for "Small Town Throwdown" is a hilarious and shining new example of such.
It's got pretty much everything, including a backwoods party, the boys being boys, smokin' hot girls and a cameo appearance by none other than UFC fighter Chuck Liddell.
As we all know, it's not officially an epic music video until you have a non-country celebrity cameo.
More entertaining than Liddell's appearance (sorry Chuck, don't hurt me!) is the palpable chemistry between the three performers, and Gilbert will tell you the chemistry is 100 percent real. In a behind-the-scenes video from the production set, he emphasized that they're close friends.
"It's not something the label put together," he said. "We just happen to be labelmates."
And they're buddies who go way back, too. Rhett recalls opening for Gilbert on club tours several years ago, where he remembers himself "playing acoustic for about 30 people."
"Those were the good ol' days, too," Gilbert added.
Getting Moore involved in the project was a no-brainer. Of his friend from Arkansas, Gilbert said, "He reminded me of my buddies from back home. I haven't met a funnier guy in the business, I don't think. He cracks me up."
And you get to see that humor all throughout the video as a partying Rhett shows us his dance moves and a self-professed 5-foot-6-inch Moore "punches" out Liddell.
But enough spoilers. If you haven't seen the video, check it out for yourself now!
