Hot Dish
This is said to be Madonna's family recipe, if you can believe that.
Crust:
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup butter
Preheat oven to 400°.
Mix together flour, sugar and pecans, cut in butter with a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles meal. Press mixture into a 9x13 baking dish. Bake in a 400° preheated oven for 15 minutes. Allow to cool. Break apart and spread again in same pan.
Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 large container whipped topping
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 17-ounce can cherry pie filling
Have cream cheese at room temp. Beat cream cheese and sugar in a mixer. Add whipped topping and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Spread over cooled broken crust. Dollop cherries about an inch apart. Refrigerate.
