Italian Meat Sauce

1 ½ pounds ground chuck
1 ½ cups chopped onion
3 cloves minced garlic
3 (14.5 ounce) cans plum tomatoes, undrained and chopped
1 medium green pepper chopped
1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste
1 cup water
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 2 teaspoons dried flakes)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
¾ teaspoon pepper

Cook beef with onions and garlic until well done. Drain well. Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes.

Serve sauce over spaghetti, lasagna, ziti, manicotti. Freeze unused for a rainy day!
