Pepper Steak

2 pounds cube steak
4 tablespoons oil or butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon sugar
1 quart tomatoes
1 large green pepper

Preheat oven to 325°.

Melt butter or heat oil in skillet until hot. Brown steak, green pepper and onion together. Place in large casserole and add remaining ingredients. Cook at 325° for 1½ hours until steak is fork tender.
