Tim McGraw's assault trail in Orchard Park, N.Y. was adjourned until Monday morning (May 21) after Orchard Park Town Justice Edmund S. Brown Jr., the judge in the case, was hospitalized on Thursday (May 17) after suffering a heart attack. McGraw and his wife Faith Hill, before flying out Thursday, issued a statement. "We wanted to extend our deepest sympathies to the judge and his family and hope he has a thorough and complete recovery," the statement read. "Our prayers are with him and his family, and we're going home to be with our family." Brown's illness threw the trial into limbo. According to attorneys at the trial, if Brown is unable to return soon, the case could be declared a mistrial. If Brown's absence from the courtroom is shorter, it could resume. It would then be up to the Erie County district attorney's office as to whether it wanted to conduct a retrial. See related story.
