Nickel Creek is one of five acts featured in a Time magazine spread on music
innovators for the new millennium. The article says the group's sound is "something like dueling banjos as remixed by
Fatboy Slim" and that the San Diego band is "making down-home music relevant for a new generation." Nickel
Creek's three principal members range in age from 19 to 24. The combo's self-titled debut CD, produced by Alison Krauss, has reached as high as No. 18 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The band
will open select shows for Vince Gill this summer. 05/30/01
