There's more O Brother, Where Art Thou? music on the way. On July 24, Lost Highway Records (a division of Mercury) will release Down From the Mountain, selections from the live concert staged last May 24 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Emceed by John Hartford, the highly-praised show featured performances by the musicians whose works would later appear on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack album. A spokesman for Lost Highway says it hasn't been decided yet which performances will be included on the new collection. Among the artists who sang at the concert were Hartford, Alison Krauss, Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, the Peasall Sisters, Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley, the Fairfield Four and Dan Tyminski. The album takes its title from the D. A. Pennebaker/Chris Hegedus documentary which covered the making of the film's music. Cowboy Booking International has secured rights to distribute the documentary in theaters over the next six months. It will make its New York debut June 15 at the Screening Room. 06/01/01
