Ralph Peer, Roy Drusky Honored by Georgia Hall
Joining Alan Jackson in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame are the late Ralph Peer -- also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame - and '60s country star Roy Drusky. All three were honored with Georgy awards at the 23rd annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards Show Monday (Oct. 22) in Atlanta. Jackson, who entertained at the ceremony, was inducted in the performer category. Peer received the posthumous award, and Drusky was honored with the Mary Tallent Pioneer Award. Peer was born in Kansas City but made important field recordings in Atlanta with Fiddlin' John Carson and others. Drusky, an Atlanta native, wrote "Alone With You" for Faron Young and had his own hits with "Yes, Mr. Peters" and "Three Hearts in a Tangle." He also performed. 10/24/01
