Steve Earle will release Sidetracks, a collection of 13 unreleased songs, rarities and soundtrack contributions, on April 9. The odds-and-ends set includes covers of Nirvana's "Breed," the Chambers Brothers' "Time Has Come Today" (a duet with Sheryl Crow) and Bob Dylan's "My Back Pages." Earle is working on a new rock album that he hopes to have out late this year. "It's a very, very, very political record," he recently told Rolling Stone. "There's no reason to write songs about girls right now." 02/21/02
