Johnny Cash is planning a quiet 70th birthday celebration Tuesday (Feb. 26) with friends and family at his second home in
Jamaica.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member is feeling better than he has in years, he recently told the Associated
Press. "I think -- I hope and pray -- that all the pneumonia is behind me," Cash said. "It almost devastated me. Now I'm mending
and gaining strength every day and feeling good." As previously reported, "The Man in Black" is working on a new album, American
IV, his fourth collaboration with producer Rick Rubin. "For You," Cash's duet with Dave Matthews for the We Were Soldiers
soundtrack, will be released Tuesday. In honor of Cash's big day, CMT.com has compiled a special
mini-site that includes celebrity birthday wishes, a timeline, vintage audio and video clips, a photo flipbook, a career retrospective
and other features celebrating his life and massive musical achievements. The site also includes a TV schedule of Cash programming
on CMT. See the Johnny Cash tribute. 02/25/02
