Johnny Cash was admitted to Baptist Hospital in Nashville on Monday (Aug. 26) after experiencing an allergic reaction to either
medication or food. A hospital spokesperson told CMT.com that Cash was in stable condition late
Monday but was being hospitalized overnight for observation. Cash, 70, suffers from autonomic neuropathy, a disease of the
nervous system that makes him susceptible to pneumonia. Cash, who spends much of his time at a home in Jamaica, had scheduled
interviews this week in Nashville to promote his new album, American IV: The Man Comes Around. The 15-track album is
set for Nov. 5 release. 08/26/02
