Curb Records artist Ronnie McDowell presented a live preview of his new album, Ronnie McDowell with Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters, at a release party Tuesday (Sept. 17) held at the Stockyard Restaurant in Nashville. The Drifters, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, accompanied McDowell on "Boardwalk Girl" (one of the singer's own compositions), "Cry to Me," a cover of the Jim Reeves hit "There's Always Me" and "Shama Lama" (from the movie Animal House). Among the Music Row folks on hand to congratulate McDowell were Ray Walker and Gordon Stoker of the Jordanaires, radio and TV personalities Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase, and Curb Records chief Mike Curb. McDowell's 12-year-old son, Tyler, who will have his own Curb album out later this year, also sang two songs. 09/18/02
