The Dixie Chicks controversy has now made its way to one state legislature. The South Carolina House voted 50-35 in favor
of a resolution that calls for the Chicks to apologize to President Bush by performing a free concert for South Carolina troops
and their families. Republican state Rep. Catherine Ceips introduced the resolution Wednesday (March 19) in response to lead
vocalist Natalie Maines' comment that the Chicks are ashamed that Bush is from their home state of Texas. Ceips referred to
the resolution as "an olive branch to the Dixie Chicks." 03/20/03
