MerleFest, the annual bluegrass festival held in Wilkesboro, N.C., from April 24-27, drew 77,337 participants this year, including
musicians, music fans and volunteers. Performers included Asleep at the Wheel, Sam Bush, Guy Clark, Bela Fleck, Jimmy Dale
Gilmore, Emmylou Harris, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, Rhonda Vincent and Doc Watson and his son
Richard. Paid attendance totaled 36,000. 04/30/03
