The world of music bids yet two more farewells to legendary artists during the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. Legendary rockabilly guitarist Carl Perkins, 65, died Monday, January 19th, in Jackson, Tennessee. He had suffered a series of strokes in November and December. Perkins wrote and recorded the 1956 single "Blue Suede Shoes," which later became a hit for Elvis Presley. Country acts Anita Cochran, Billy Ray Cyrus and Skip Ewing are among the artists teaming up to perform at the fourth annual Blue Suede Dinner & Auction to benefit the Carl Perkins Center For The Prevention Of Child Abuse. The event will take place February 28th in the late Perkins' Jackson hometown. Veteran entertainer Cliffie Stone, 80, also passed away on Monday evening at his Los Angeles area home, after having suffered a heart attack.
