Music great Garth Brooks and California tunesmith Jay Thomas, agreed on an out-of-court settlement recently, regarding the
origin of Brooks' "Standing Outside The Fire" hit. Thomas, who initially filed a $5 million federal copyright infringement
suit, had earlier claimed the song was lifted from his and co-writer Kenny Loggins' "Conviction Of The Heart." The song is
featured on Loggins' 1993 Outside From The Redwoods disc. Both Brooks and Thomas appeared in a Los Angeles courthouse
on Tuesday, January 13th, to resolve the lawsuit battle. Garth Live From Central Park, one of 1997's concert events
of the year, is being released from EMI-Capitol Entertainment Properties to home video. The two-hour August 7th show from
New York City is now available in stores.
