Singer/songwriter Deana Carter is working on a new album, but it won't be released by Capitol Records, the imprint that carried "Strawberry Wine." The singer won't elaborate on her split with Capitol but says it was amicable. "Parting is such sweet sorrow, to borrow that beautiful phrase. I've been on that label for 10 years, and it's just time for a change," she said at a news conference Thursday (April 26). She has been "writing her butt off" for her upcoming self-produced project, she said, but she would not reveal which label it will be for. Carter will debut some of her new material during the 20-city Pedigree Homeward Bound tour, a series of acoustic shows that kicks off May 6 in Chicago and wraps up June 9 in Cleveland. Sponsored by Pedigree Food for Dogs, the tour benefits Homeward Bound, a national program that encourages pet adoption through local animal shelters.
