Country Music Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson has come up with a new revenue-stream for Farm Aid. The inaugural Willie
Nelson 10K for Farm Aid will take place Oct. 21 in Austin, Texas, The Associated Press reports. Some 15,000 participants
are expected, and if the race is successful Nelson will consider holding the event at other locations. The singer will perform
at a post-race concert. Farm Aid was founded in 1985 by Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young to raise public awareness about
the plight of the American family farmer and to provide assistance to those whose livelihoods depend on agriculture. Raising
funds through benefit concerts and other events, Farm Aid has granted $16 million to over 100 farm organizations, churches
and service agencies.
