Country group Blackhawk's Van Stephenson is recovering well from recent surgery for skin cancer (malignant melanoma). He's
expected to make a full recovery, but had to skip out on performing at the Nashville Music Awards on February 10th. Filling
in was new Arista label-mate Phil Vasser, who penned BlackHawk's "Postmarked Birmingham" and Jo Dee Messina's "Bye, Bye" and
"I'm Alright."
